HOLY YOGA WINTER CANCELLATION POLICY: With winter weather starting it has been discussed on what days Yoga should be cancelled. If the Byron Center Public Schools close for a snow day, there will be no Yoga. Please keep this in mind as we may not have time to send out reminders on those days. Remember to check your local television stations and if they announce there is no school that day for Byron Center Public Schools, there will be no Chair or Holy Yoga at BCUMC that night.

Byron Center United Methodist Church offers four Holy Yoga Classes FREE! Donations will be accepted but are not required. The classes are held on Monday and Wednesday nights!! The Holy Yoga Sessions welcome people of all ages, children too!!! All experience levels are welcome!! BCUMC Yoga is open to the public. We hope you join us and invite your friends. Details below. You may be surprised to hear yoga is beneficial for people of all ages and mobilities. As a result, BCUMC has added a Chair Holy Yoga Class and a Family Holy Yoga Class for adults and children of all ages. All of the classes are being led by Holly Visser of Freebird Fitness and Co-Director of the Gazelle Girl Half Marathon. She is an incredible teacher and we are blessed to have her. What better way to reduce the stress of “back to school” and the holiday season. We are so excited about the addition of the two new classes. Check them out below. Pre-registration is not required. Drop in and check out each class. You will be glad you did.

NEW SESSIONS: Our classes are being led by accomplished Holy Yoga instructor, Holly Visser


The classes are held in the Fellowship Hall. Children under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present.



CHAIR YOGA: 5:15 PM to 5:45 PM . FREE - donations will be accepted but are not required.

Chair Yoga has been shown to improve overall health, prevent, and even reverse some conditions when practiced regularly. The benefits of Chair Yoga include improved strength; improved flexibility; improved coordination of movements which can help prevent falls; reduce stress; improve clarity; improve stress and pain management. The best thing about Yoga is it can be adapted to suit anyone’s needs. It’s an effective and gentle way to improve your strength and flexibility in a way that can complement your current routine.

HOLY YOGA 6:00 PM TO 7:00 PM : FREE - donations will be accepted but are not required.

This class is a continuation of our original Monday night class. As folks who have been attending can tell you, the benefits of Yoga include top to toe toning, improvement of your posture and strengthening of your back, better sleep, increased flexibility, decreased stress and tension, lower blood pressure readings, increased core strength, and improved memory and concentration. All you will need to bring is a mat, a blanket or throw, yoga strap or neck tie and water.
